Machines that make machines

The unglamorous end of R&D: specialised manufacturing and coating equipment, automation, and precision machining.

Repairing gas-turbine components is a manufacturing problem as much as an analytical one. At Datis I worked both sides of that line.

Coating machinery

I helped design and build the coating and manufacturing equipment used to bring repaired hot-section components back into service.

Automation

I turned a manual process into an automated, operator-safe one, putting an idle industrial robot to work. Department capacity rose, and the operator stepped back from the hazard.

Closing note

Simulation earns its keep only when something gets made. These machines are where the models cashed out.
