Dossier No. 03 · concise entry

Heat, moved carefully

A selection of thermal-fluid studies across industrial equipment, manufacturing processes and energy systems, each developed to support a practical engineering decision.

Alongside employed work, I've kept an independent simulation practice: commissions and studies where the deliverable is a defensible engineering answer. A selection:

Casting solidification

Predicting how molten metal freezes — where shrinkage will sit, which sections cool too fast — so the mould is corrected on screen rather than on the foundry floor.

Furnace cooling

The thermal study behind Dossier No. 01: the furnace's cooling behaviour, modelled before anything was built.

Additive-manufacturing heat transfer

An independent commission simulating heat flow in additive builds, where thermal history decides stress and distortion.

Water-treatment devices

Thermal design studies for two water-treatment units: absorption desalination and humidity extraction.

Biogas production modelling

A mathematical model of methane production, built for feasibility work.

Closing note

Different problems, one discipline: assumptions written down, methods stated, results correlated where a test exists.
